Retaining Walls in Suffolk County
Retaining walls turn a slope into usable yard, hold back soil along driveways and stairwells, and frame patios. Masoncrete Builders builds segmental block walls, poured concrete walls and stone-veneer walls, and repairs and caps existing ones.
Andrew Raio wrote: "A buddy of mine needed a retaining wall, and after hearing about this company I reached out. They came out the same day to look at it, gave an estimate, and had us booked and ready to start that Monday."
Wall types
- Segmental block walls (see also block work) with fitted caps, for terraces and planting beds.
- Poured concrete walls and caps, like the new caps on our basement entrance rebuild.
- Stone veneer for a dark stacked-stone look, including facelifts of existing walls.
- Seat walls that border a patio or fire feature.

Why walls fail, and how we avoid it
Retaining walls fail when water builds up behind them or the base is weak. We excavate for a compacted base, set the first course level, and plan for drainage behind the wall so water can escape. Caps are fitted and secured to finish the top cleanly.
Stone veneer facelifts
If an existing wall is structurally sound but tired-looking, stone veneer can give it a clean, elegant finish. We posted one of these facelifts on Facebook and you can see it being installed below.
