Concrete & Masonry Repair and Maintenance

Concrete and masonry do not fail all at once. A spalled step, a heaved sidewalk flag, a cracked curb or a few open mortar joints turn into bigger repairs when they are left alone. Masoncrete Builders repairs and maintains concrete and masonry for homeowners, property managers, general contractors and public owners across Suffolk County, Nassau County and Queens.

We find what caused the damage, fix that first, and then remove and replace to match existing grades, finish and joint layout, so the repair blends in and lasts.

Repair work we do

For homeowners

Cracked driveway aprons, sunken walkway sections, crumbling front steps, loose brick on a stoop and worn mortar joints are the repairs we see most around Long Island homes. We will tell you honestly whether a section can be patched or should be replaced, give you a clear quote, and leave the area cleaned up. For smaller concrete fixes, see also our concrete repair page.

For property managers, municipalities, school districts and general contractors

Repair and maintenance work is a big part of what we want to do for commercial and public clients. We are available for:

We are also actively pursuing on-call, term and requirements contracts for concrete and masonry repair with municipalities, school districts and other public owners. Our crew holds safety certifications, and we plan every public and commercial job safety first.

How a repair job works

  1. Assess: find the cause, whether it is a failed base, water, roots, salt or freeze-thaw.
  2. Protect and remove: set up cones and tape, saw-cut clean edges and break out the damaged concrete or masonry.
  3. Rebuild the base: excavate, compact and correct drainage where needed.
  4. Replace: form, reinforce and place new concrete, or lay and tool new brick and block, to match existing.
  5. Cure and restore: protect the repair while it cures and restore the surrounding site.

Real repair work

The photos on this page are from real Masoncrete Builders jobs: a commercial concrete repair along a building, where worn concrete around utility conduits was saw-cut, removed and replaced, and a commercial block wall that was demolished and rebuilt and tied into the existing wall. One commercial customer told us their "commercial concrete walkways had to be repaired" and that "they did excellent work."

Concrete & Masonry Repair FAQ

Should my concrete be repaired or replaced?
It depends on the cause. Surface spalls and isolated damage can often be patched; sections with a failed base, heaving or widespread cracking are usually better removed and replaced to match existing.
Do you repair brick and block, or only concrete?
Both. We repoint mortar joints, replace damaged brick, repair and rebuild block (CMU) walls and parge foundation walls.
Do you offer on-call repair or maintenance agreements?
Yes. Property managers, general contractors and public owners can call on us for as-needed repairs, and we can set up a maintenance agreement for recurring work.
Do you bid public repair and maintenance contracts?
We are actively pursuing on-call, term and requirements contracts for concrete and masonry repair. See our capabilities statement or send us a bid inquiry.
Will the repair match my existing concrete?
We match grades, finish, texture and joint layout as closely as possible. New concrete looks a little lighter at first, and the color evens out as it weathers.
