Brick Work in Suffolk County

Brick gives a home a classic, permanent look, and on Long Island it shows up everywhere: front stoops and steps, low garden walls, borders and edging, and the brick faces of older homes. Masoncrete Builders lays new brick and repairs existing brick work, with the same attention to base, drainage and clean finishing we bring to every concrete job.

What makes brick last

Brick fails for the same reasons concrete does: water and a weak foundation. Brick steps need a solid footing or slab underneath, mortar joints need to be full and properly tooled to shed water, and caps and treads should be pitched so water runs off instead of soaking in and freezing. We build brick work on a proper base and pay attention to the joints, because that is what you see every day and what keeps water out.

Cleaning brick

Dirty or mildewed brick steps and walls can often be brought back with power washing, and cleaning first shows clearly which joints need repointing.

Brick, concrete or block together

Many projects combine materials: a poured concrete stoop with brick facing, a block wall with a brick or stone face, or a concrete walkway with a brick border. One crew handling all of it means the pieces line up and match.

Brick Work FAQ

Can you repair my existing brick steps?
Often, yes. Loose or broken brick can be reset or replaced and joints repointed. If the base underneath has failed, we will tell you whether a rebuild is the better option.
Can you match my existing brick?
We try to match color, size and mortar as closely as available materials allow, and we will show you options before work starts.
Do you combine brick with concrete?
Yes. Brick-faced concrete steps and brick borders on concrete walkways are common combinations.
