Concrete Block Work in Suffolk County

Concrete masonry units (CMU, or concrete block) are the workhorse of masonry construction: foundation walls, garage and shed walls, retaining walls, stairwell walls and commercial building walls. Masoncrete Builders lays new block and rebuilds damaged block walls for residential and commercial clients.

One of our recent projects, shared on our Instagram, was a commercial block wall reconstruction on Long Island: the existing loading-dock wall was demolished and hauled away, scaffolding went up, and new block walls were laid course by course with door and window openings formed and tied into the existing structure.

Built level, plumb and tied in

Good block work starts with a level footing and a straight first course; every course after that follows it. We work to string lines and levels, keep joints consistent, form openings with proper lintels, and tie new block into existing walls so the structure works as one.

Cleaning block walls

Block walls collect dirt and staining over time. We offer power washing for block and brick walls, and it is a good first step before parging or painting.

Commercial wall reconstruction

On the Long Island commercial project shown on this page, the crew handled the full sequence: interior and exterior demolition, debris removal, scaffolding, staging new block, laying the new walls, and framing door and window openings. You can see the whole sequence in the block wall section of our gallery.
